super slimey

might not be as good as the best Young Thugga but it's way better than any Future project I've heard in... millennia, by which I mean ever. They prove more effective foils for each other than I would've expected. Most of the appeal, though, comes from the fact that these are some sleepy-time-ass beats and I'm nothing if not perpetual sleepy nowadays. Who would've thought that a genre that started out as crunk revivalism would end up being my generation's definitive soundtrack to stoned lethargic insomnia? 4/5

Neo Wax Boom Boom Baby

New Iglooghost is like all of the music I most love remixed for consumption by all of the people I most hate. Recommended if you thought  Anamanaguchi or Unicorn Kid "saved chiptune."

some bits of brilliance, though, which just make it all the more frustrating.

actually I don't know I have a lot of thoughts about this, particularly as relates to it being perhaps the first attempt at a coherent full-length traditional album (i.e. not a dj mix or mixtape or comp) exploring the full palette of the dynamic/upbeat.hyperkinetic/girly side of bass music and how it maybe proves that even with all the obvious effort made to provide a coherent listening experience, that maybe this sort of music just doesn't work in this format.

but ultimately I think I can't get behind anything released on the label that gave us quite possibly the most overrated jazz album of all time and the only artist they ever signed I was ever a fan of turned out to be a rapist and they've never done anything about it.
